Setting Goals with OKR

OKR (Objectives and Key Results) is a goal-setting framework that helps organizations define and track objectives and their outcomes.

While OKR is a goal-setting framework mostly for organization, I think it’s also extremely helpful for personal goals.

Thanks to my manager who’s been helping me understand the structure of this methodology – the OKR structure I’ve been using is this:

I’ll [achieve Objectives], measure by [Key Results], via [steps].

I use this structure to define my career as well as personal goals.

Having a goal is like having a compass that guides our direction forward and illuminates the unknown journey.

Key Results then are like a final examination for us to see if we achieve our goals.

Being able to break big tasks into small steps can help us stay motivated and provide clarity, allowing us to maintain momentum toward our goals.

. . .

OKR provides us a great way for setting clear goals and establishing a focused direction.
